living small

When my husband & I visited Singapore during our holiday last April, we went to IKEA store at Alexandra. There are actually 2 IKEA stores in Singapore, one in 317 Alexandra Road and the other is in  60 Tampines North Drive 2. We didn't have a chance to go to Tampines cause there's not enough time, but we will next time.

IKEA founded in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad from Sweden. The company name is actually the initials of the founder's name. I for Ingvar, K for Kamprad, E for Elmtaryd ( the farm where Ingvar Kamprad grew up ) and A for Agunnaryd ( his village in South Sweden ). It's an international home products company and has become the world's largest furniture retailer. Most of IKEA's product is designed to be self-assembled to reduce costs of packaging and shipping air. I think it might work for countries that already have a proper transportation but not here in Indonesia where public transportations are still a major problem.

As we got there, the first thing that captured my eyes was the IKEA building itself. A very large second story blue building with yellow accents ( which I recently know as Sweden's national colors ). What I love the most about IKEA store is their showrooms. We can find like almost everything we need here, from furnitures to household needs. If you're looking for some ideas, I think IKEA might be the right place for you. Especially when you don't have enough space and minimum budget.

Take a look at these pics I found on IKEA website
